UNIT 2 LIBRARY
UNIT 2
1 /Look up a title in schools library database/
2 /Pick title, and find source location, in this case, an online e-book/
3 /Read and annotate title/
My connection with the libraries on campus could be related to a distant yet highly involved relationship, often being re-sparked at the start of an architectural research assignment, site analysis or theory paper. Typically sources I would use reside in the Syracuse Architecture Library, or occasionally at Bird Library across campus, however, I find myself using Syracuse online book collection more often for abstract research topics. Physical articles will always have a certain level of importance in architecture, as many books written by architects are highly curated pieces of design in themselves, often having physical qualities in materiality, feel and graphic representation that would be lost with an e-book. For this reason, the physical manifestation of books in a library can't be matched by their online versions, there must be a balance between both technological and the physical or we risk losing the richness in textures, materiality and meticulous design that goes into our written literature.
