Selfies have multiple positive implications, other than dopamine triggers boosting a sense of worth and appreciation. In many cases, selfies are used for documentation for social media, projects, or campaigns, using personal images to sell or support the brand. It's a desire for human interaction and recognizable usage that makes selfies, as a tool, quite important.
In the field of architecture, selfies allow designers that same human approach when launching civic projects that connect directly with the community. Often reappropriated into renders and other forms of digital representation. Architects can also use selfies for the presentation of projects, usually in the form of a headshot of standing with the proposed designs. This behavior is more common for more socially inclined designers, acting as a sort of branding for corporations and private parties of interest.
In my case, I have used the concept of selfies to document a day's work while in architecture school, counseling my face, but using my hands as a reappropriation of the selfie. Its the human aspect in an everyday task that makes it believable, or in many cases relatable. And while a few images of a person going through their day may seem inconclusive, or even random, it's a way to illustrate a life. If anything else, a selfie can be a powerful catalyst for understanding and insight.
The time stamping is such a simple but easy way to make it more insightful for the viewer. Additionally, the images were clear and are a great asset to understanding, while providing a visual aid specified to your day.
